IMG_1719-TriatholnOn Sunday July 14th 1heart2souls held it’s  3rd Annual Minster Youth Triathlon in Minster, Ohio.  Over 150 youth from the surrounding area participated in a lively but fun competition.

The City of Minster closed many of its’ main streets and public swimming pool to accommodate this event that has benefited families who have suffered infant loss or the birth of an infant with disabilities.

The 3 sport event included a swim, bike and run  competition that brought athletes from many surrounding areas ranging from ages four to fourteen, each competing in different distances according to age.

The event was a huge success and could not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of local businesses and individuals. Equally important were  the fifty volunteers that were on hand at the  course to help ensure the safety of the kids and to help make the day fun. Marylou Slonkosky, the Triathlon Event Director, and a Director of Development for 1heart2souls was quoted as saying,  ” It’s not easy to ask people to get up at such an early hour of the morning to stand in the hot sun for four hours or put up tables and tents and work registrations but I have been blessed with some generous individuals that see a deeper meaning to the triathlon. They understand the commitment we have to the mission of the organization.”
The Heart and Soul Award is awarded to  to an athlete that exemplifies in his or her  character or athletic performance a humbleness about his abilities while giving 110 percent in their effort.  Awards were given to the top three boys and girls of each age group.
1heart2souls thanks the community of Minster, Ohio for opening their hearts and letting parents and families that we serve know that Minster, Ohio cares!
